I would play online to the wee hours of the morning. There were always players online for PvP. Well-imagined maps with nooks and crannies for the Alien to hide, and several paths to goal areas. Wall-walking and scaring the daylights out of opponents with surprise attacks. If it had bots to play offline skirmishes it would have been even more awesome.

This game was so chaotic and that what made it brilliant. Playing as the Predator made you feel invincible... until there were just too many Xenomorphs to cope. And playing as an Alien and running along walls and ceilings was dizzying in the best way. A great game!

I remember being blown away back in the day at the fact that you could play as a facehugger and chestburster. From there jumping into the other campaigns I remember the absolute joy of hunting as a predator and the slow creeping dread when playing as a marine. The multiplayer also allowing all three species to go head-to-head and even being able to play through the alien life cycle online was always a memorable experience to put it lightly. To this day this stands as probably the best AvP game made and a gold standard for FPS games. I'd love to see this available again on modern systems and to see the community around re-invigorated once more!

One of the games I started playing without high expectations, and ended up sinking two whole days in it and still remembering it. One of the few games that I didn't spend much time in, but I wouldn't think twice about doing it again today.

i have all was wanted to play this i was far to young to ever be able to play it when it fist came out and i truly would love to be able to play it for the first time in my life and not jsut that being able to paly the expansiones as well

This was my first online fps. I loved it I got good at it had my first online stalker in this game follow me from server to server. I had many great friends and rival clans and many awesome death matches. Most people followed a certain code of honour in the game which made it more fun. I miss those early days. I was great and unstoppable as sniper, drone and runner

Back around this games release, barely a teenager, I naively believed our humble family Gateway PC could handle playing this game as I proceeded to buy a box copy off the shelves of Best Buy, Needless to say, this game kick-started the need for a 2nd upgrade (The 1st was to play Soul Reaver) which ultimately led to saving up for the parts and building my own first gaming PC and feeling that true independence only felt at that age by getting off the family resources and onto your own. Fond memories indeed.

an awesome game from a time long past it feels like. It has wonderful story which takes some time to read through and piece together and the gameplay for all the races (aliens, predator and marines) is awesome. The modding for this game was and probably still is) was awesome. People who never got the chance to play this are missing out and by that alone this should be added to GOG!

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
