This is the game who started a whole segment. Its deep, intricate plot, along with a unique gameplay within the TPS genre brought a new perspective for the industry, and made the youth of many people. It was my first experience with a more mature game at the time, and I still can remember its gloomy atmosphere, and Max's insane story. It has to be brought back to us on PC, no doubt!jazra_

I am not a fan of the game and unlike most games I vote for, it's not one I would buy if it came here, at least not under normal circumstances. I played the game a lot when it was new, I don't remember if I finished it or not. But for me it just didn't do it. I won't go into details as it's been so many years now that it would have been unfair for the game. BUT, you don't have to personally like a game to admit a game's quality or importance. The game was a milestone in third person shooters and 100% deserves to be here. Plus of course many people love it.
I remember playing this when i was around 7-8 years old on our family pc. it was dark, but didnt bother me that much sense i pew pew and didnt think until the part black room with red blood vines, heartbeats and crying baby. plan to play in the future, but sometimes Steam version of older games can be from playable, but with some limit to unplayable and i think this game deserves a good Revive
I want to be able to actually finish this game. As A Kid I couldn't finish it since I didn't have the comprehension to understand the mechanics and story. I want to be able to buy The whole 3 games and be able to have a physical copy of the game to play it whenever I want

I loved the narrative, the film noir style with a mix of David Lynch and John Woo mixed in. The bullet time gameplay also holds up. It is a shame it does no function on Steam or has a remaster right now. This is a game that is important for its impact on story and gameplay, a game that needs to be preserved.

My first encounter with Max Payne felt like opening a gritty, rain-soaked graphic novel that someone had dropped in the snow. While other shooters of the early 2000s were about loud, mindless action, Max Payne was a slow-motion ballet of tragedy and self-destruction. I still remember the tactile satisfaction of diving sideways through a broken doorway, dual Berettas blazing in bullet time, watching the empty brass casings slowly spin through the air. But what truly burned itself into my memory was the haunting atmosphere. The sound of painkillers rattling in a bottle, the surreal nightmare sequences with that terrifyingly thin red line of blood in the dark, and Max’s poetic, self-loathing monologues that made New York feel like purgatory. And, of course, that unforgettable, permanent smirk on Sam Lake's face. It is a absolute masterpiece of digital noir. Preserving it on GOG is about saving the game that proved shooters could have a bleeding, poetic soul.

Played it first time on a beautiful summer day when a friend of mine brought it on an official disk but in Italian and we didnt know that there are other languages for it , and finished it that way :) . Very good game , from my "First played games" list , scary atmoshere from what i remember , the blood trail level from the house i stil have nightmares with it .
Max Payne must be preserved from the greedy hands of R* and their evil cyborg overlord Strauss Zelnick - Take Two's (and Take even More) CEO. The 2nd part will also be a nice addition, be if we only end up with 1, it will still be a W.
Those games also need your vote!
Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
