Witty one liners, charming characters, shocking plot twists, and surprisingly clever FPS mechanics, made this game stand out back in the day - that, and the delightful cartoony graphics and 60s soundtrack. I remember first playing the demo of this and getting hooked the moment the opening theme tune played out - something about it instantly reminded me of Bond movies, Peter Sellers, and all those retro cartoons I grew up with. Then once I got playing, I found myself giggling away at all the little quips and witty repartee between henchmen and main characters alike. There weren't many FPS games out which had a sense of humour, let alone a kickass female protagonist with a sharp wit! The main thing i appreciated about the game aside from the humour, was the difficulty curve and all the myriad gadgets you could employ to get through each level - it felt a bit like Bond meets Metal Gear with all the sneaking and gadget use! Ahh, i could go on and on, suffice to say NOLF deserves to be brought back into our lives, and be introduced to a new generation of gamers who haven't been fortunate enough to enjoy its inimitable charms! PS - Cate Archer should've been elevated to the top of the pantheon of popular main characters during those years - It always baffles me that Lara Croft continued to hold that crown, when Cate was so much more charming! :)Imp15h4p3

The humor, level design, characters and the fact that it's a chore to even try to play this game these days on PC make it a no-brainer for a vote here. I think this is one of the more unique and interesting FPSes of the post-half-life era, and certainly an important milestone for Monolith, and gaming history as a whole.

When I was a kid, I played this with my grandmother, on a borrowed computer. My grandmother was only in charge of shooting, and I did the rest. Nice memories, it's perhaps the only game I'd like to see again.

Have both games! Played this when I was so, so young! Don't remember much of it, but I do remember wanting to be exactly like Cate - except that I was a small boy then 😆. No one was cooler! And I have been waiting for it to come back since!

The graphics could do with an update after 25 years. But it's still one of my favorite games. The music and many scenes are strongly reminiscent of the Bond films of the 60s, but the protagonist also has a bit of Emma Peel about her. The humor is amazing, something I've only found in Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk 2077. I think a remake by CD Project Red would be even better than a re-release.

For me, No One Lives Forever was more than just a game; it was an experience. It was a chance to immerse myself in a bygone era, become a secret agent, and save the world from a shadowy organization. It's a game I can always return to and find something new to appreciate. The game's blend of stealth, action, and humor was a real standout for its time. Sneaking through those levels, using gadgets like lipstick explosives and a robotic cat, and delivering those witty one-liners – it all came together to create a truly memorable experience. And who could forget the amazing soundtrack? It perfectly captured the groovy vibe of the era.

I can say that this is one of the most unique and memorable games I've ever played. The colorful and varied locations? Beautiful. It's like James Bond meets the cheesy 60s Batman series. I think this game deserves a platform where it will stay forever.

I thought this game captured the humorous side of the spy film and TV genre perfectly. I remember the voice acting was excellent, and the music score was phenomenal. The final chase was absolutely hilarious, too.

I don't recall if I had briefly pirated this or if there was a demo. Unfortunately I never had a chance to buy it before it disappeared into legal hell. I wanted to get it, but was an unemployed high school student/graduate at the time. That opening level with the damn mook arguing with a merchant. "Would you like to buy a monkey?" "No." "It's a very good monkey." "If it's so good, why don't you KEEP it?" "Do you want my children to starve?" "If they're so hungry then feed them the monkey!" Every game should be remembered and accessible, but this is a very historic case within the industry. Bring Cate back, before EA or some other horrible company resurrects her corpse with microtransactions and seasonal battle passes.
Those games also need your vote!
Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
