My husband and I originally met in an MMO. As you can imagine, games we can play and enjoy together are part of our love language. Suffering from burnout in our main MMO of choice, we stepped into Nexus together about a year and a half after Wildstar launched. There has never been a game before or since that either of us has so thoroughly enjoyed from top to bottom, back to front.
The art style was somehow able to be beautiful and whimsical, but at the same time as grim and dark as one could hope for when necessary. The storytelling invested us in a world where the faction divide made sense, and for us in particular, our place in the Exiles felt like home. The gameplay was truly so far ahead of its time that the rest of the gaming industry still hasn't caught up yet.
That might seem like a bold statement, but never have I enjoyed a game so thoroughly that I explored every single aspect of its game play. The story campaign, expeditions/shiphands, dungeons, raids, PvP, housing. We did it all, and we did it well, not because we were elite, hardcore players with infinite time or money. We did it because this game sparked so much more joy and love than I ever thought a video game could evoke.
Please, GOG, save this game. If there is any game on the face of this earth worth saving for future generations to enjoy, I genuinely believe this is the one.
