So you know what I'm tired of? LLMs and generative systems being used as an excuse to stifle creativity. As such, I'd like to have a disclosure/seal of doom stamped onto games of which use this absolutely turgid night soil.Developers would be asked at (great potential penalty, up to removal) to be honest about the matter and to what extent. This would apply retroactively, indefinitely, and to any future updates a title would receive.

Ridiculous and naive. If you use a computer for programming, rendering, design, or anything serious, you're using AI. So you'd have no games after 2023 on the platform. Have already seen this result in cleavage of the Godot community with the people that contribute the least being most in favor of this sort of thing. I no longer use the engine for anything and most actual programmers and creatives (not weekend tumblr hobby artists) have similarly left. If you don't like AI, don't buy any software made after 2023. Or cars. Or TVs. Or streaming. It's a tool used by professionals. All professionals.
AI disclosure is, quite frankly, silly. This will most likely be a dead-letter inside of five years. I guarantee that the majority of new games use AI to some degree. This percentage will likely approach 100% by 2028. All the 'anti-AI' action is going to accomplish is increase the cost of development, which will defacto hurt small studios/indies.
I don't get the people defending AI, here. This isn't an attack on AI. And then saying _others_ have AI derrangement. No, YOU guys have chat jippity psychosis, likely. This is a request to honestly disclose when it was used. You should be proud of the use. Every game that uses Unreal Engine typically discloses the use of Unreal Engine. In every other case, we absolutely love to disclose the name of the lego factory that is name our lego bricks? But not this time? Just disclose it, and let the people decide if they want to play the game or not. Simple as.
Use of generative AI is disgusting and repulsive. The only reason to hide its use is because it will affect sales. By failing to discolose it, people might buy a game when they wouldn't if the knew it was made with generative AI. To me, this is fraud.
Came to this forum and was immediately overwhelmed with AI advertising posts, wtf?! But yes, would strongly prefer that GOG required an AI disclosure
I hope this gets implemented.
Much needed, as many retro communities are getting infested by it.
+1 here as well.
+1, My vote.
Is this a problem here? Thankfully not seen it yet, the only benefit to the "curation" that keeps so many great games off GOG when they should be here, but I know Steam has become a slop pit in recent years. Anyway, definitely a necessary thing, any AI is grounds for a refund and I'd rather not be sending request for those to GOG.
Absolutely agree with this wish, it would be great to have an AI disclosure section on the store page of games!
Given GOG's increasing reliance on MLMs this seems to only be getting more relevant.
AI disclosure in games is important, but it should not become a creativity policing tool. Balance openness with developer freedom instead of punitive retroactive enforcement. Transparency page tt789apks.com/
Yeah, consumers should have a heads up if it was used. If developers really think it's so great, then stand by it.
Would be very good
This isn't needed. Please remove.
We should disallow the use of AI entirely in GOG games.
** This is a must, along with proper filtering via tags.
This is a must.
Please require an AI disclosure. As a consumer I want to be informed of what exactly I am going to purchase.
as a creative who have being under fire for using systems that predated LLMs for automation, I need you fellow gamers to understand that this matter need a strict categorisation and a clear distinction between automation and AI slop.Labelling everything AI slop and ban it, is no different than the witch-hunt that burned innocence people for witchcraft.
yes please, this is absolutely necessary.require the disclosure to be detailed. make them explain themselves!i'm not spending my money on slop.
while i would rather see a full BAN on A.I. , this is a step in the right direction. i prefer not to support fake art.
Yes. There is no good use of generative AI and I don't care what your excuse is. At best it's lazy theft only used by scumbags.
I am not against AI being used in the production of games; I just want to know what kind and where it was used.
Very much so, i HATE AI and miss how valued human creativity was.But especially from a customer side: You should know what you are getting and what you are supporting.
AI disclosure is necessary
It should be like in Itch io, where if you mark a game as having AI generated content it opens a submenu asking where it is (code, art, music...). I feel that Steam's method is too vague and that the devs never really say where the AI was used, just that it was used.
I'm pro-AI in most cases but I agree entirely that AI disclosure should be a requirement for all art forms. Let people keep using AI and making art with it (including games) but the customer should be informed before making a purchase.
This is the reason why I came to the community wishlist today. There should be a stamp or seal and a scale of grading. Generative AI in game mechanics is one thing. There's a whole genre of games with randomly generated levels. The use of generative AI in the "creation" of game graphics and visual assets is another thing entirely. The introduction of this mark could help tilt the future of game development and foster human digital artists.
If there is problem with term "Classic" in games and you get sum 19 719, 32 €, then maybe problem is there is no lithium on Earth for everyone to make car, personal assistant and your phone with battery each 10 years refreshed and renewed(home kit please :), and in Classics there is something more... for publishing desire in some unknown way... therefore human on ai request to play such games on need... if they are not so lazy to be voyeur and make magazine to their needs.
Could use Laaster.com
+1 Just an option to see it to make a more informed choice.
Being able to see if game consist some AI-generated stuff is essential part of customer service, not only because of the ethical side, but also because AI-filled games actually must either provide more gameplay diversity and/or playtime hours than typical nonAI title, or cost less due to the cheaper and faster production.
100%
Actually I am not too sure the more I think about it? The scale does seem a bit too granular to really work here? I feel like pretty much all games would fall under D1 given how it seems like it counts ANY form of analytical tool, including standard code error detection.
Looking at the DAILA scale, it does seem like the best way to do such a disclosure.VVV
Could use DALIA scale : daliascale.org/
Seems like a no-brainer. People need to be educated on the extent to which these tools are being used and become versed in the results. Hiding AI use is disingenuous.
Oh bugger all, I was wondering why GOG's website had suddenly stopped working and then began to waffle back and forth between "front page won't even load" to "almost kinda works but is a glitchy mess".Yes, this needs to be disclosed, and using it *is* indeed a blight. No, this is not a "new technology". Neural networks (as we called this Back In The Day) have been around since the days of the PDP-80. Markov-chain bots (or "LLMs" as 12yo Timmy wants to call it) have been around for decades as well, and have never been used for anything constructive. They're spambots, and we've all called them that for a reason. Don't pretend you're using something "new" or "exciting" when all you're doing is rehashing the same mistakes of idiots and experimenters from the past decades. If you're stealing my code, my art, my work, please burn. I'd rather people "pirate" anything I make than use these things to plagiarise it all. At least then our studio's still in the bloody credits and it's not 12yo Timmy saying he "made" it.As a post for actual artists, look into Nightshade. We need more tools like that and more adoption of the ones that already exist.
100% behind this.If you want to make your game with slop then you should have to disclose it. The fact people don't just shows they know how unpopular it is.
AI disclosure is a must.
NO IA, PLEASE!
If you search for term "Classic" in games, you get currently 2468 games with that title. Count that with some average price(like 7,99) and you get 19 719, 32 €But if counting 52 pages with 48 games on it, you could get database window cursor discount...AI infringement calls its name, with harrassment title to get some ai lawyer in, maybe if that is on the road to gamerzine to make some edu, they are for that on the business side of AI budget, but who then play the games, with title Classic and not nostalgia budget All in ?
worth mentioning that there are different kinds of AI for different purposes and of varying severity. Using AI to translate code for compatibility is a good example of something not ideal, but generally a good thing for everyone (of course, as long as it's the first step, and not the only one). Generative AI can also be something like Copilot autocomplete, which in many cases is really just a productivity boost and time-saver without sacrificing anything. A wholesale blanket of "AI" would be far too broad. It's like marking an image as AI because it used a facetune filter.Ofc I'm anti-clanker, but the catastrophization and lack of consideration is just as damaging as the problem itself. It hurts the whole movement when people try to counteract pro-human tools and dumb AI that has been here since before 2022.
Also don't put your fucking apology for using GEN AI behind a paywall, that is corpo shit.
Using Gen-AI tools to build anything is the first step on enshitification, it is plagiarism, it is theft, it is lazy, it can only ever produce a hollow average quality at best. GOG should not be aiming for average. This new direction will just drive people away and towards Steam. The news of Galaxy for linux was great, then hearing it'll be made with AI, just makes me think oh okay, so it'll run shit then. Why should I wait around for it? Why shouldn't I just play my games on steam, they're AI policies are far more considerate of their audience. Disclose AI with your games, and STOP USING GEN AI to ENSHITIFY GOG!
