I remember this being one of the first ROM and EMU games I was searching for. Sure it had a bad translation. It wasn't perfect. But the boss fights, the trip from one side of the world.. right down below. It was what made it all worth it. Let alone the party system inside and outside of battle. From katt's hunting to Bleu's "Hunting". to Rends overworld map travel. If this game ever got a remake. I would just want simple "Quality of life" fixes and honestly a better translation. Nothing too far. Just simple. Heck the shaman system I always loved.TechnoWiz25

Please, please do this. Now that we have BOF 4 on the site and in the program, we need the rest of the series. The series that defined my childhood, that I played with my late father. The series that he bought for me and that introduced me to Japanese Role Playing Games.

My favorite game of all time. Love the simple rpg mechanics, the character designs, the story, and the janky translation. Yes, the janky translation is better than the fan translation by far.

Great characters, mind-blowing story. 5* game! I would absolutely die happy ic this game ever got remade or remastered. Bow, Rand, Katt, Nina, Sten, Jean, Spar, and Bleu are all old, cherished friends.

Back in 3rd grade, my dad rented a SNES + this game for a me a couple times. It was AMAZING(!) for me at the time! Didn't understand much English back then, but the colours were vibrant, the characters were fun with all the different abilities, and it had dragons! What kid doesn't like dragons!? Even as an adult, I keep coming back to this game on emulator, and I am having just as much fun with it now. Eventually bought the game for ~65 USD back in 1996 (~$130 in today's money). Would pay another $65 today for a remaster, with original graphics, plus optional upscaled smoothing + bug and translation fixes.

The art, the characters, the STORY. Growing up in an extremely religious family blinded me to much of the nasty and corruption till I played this masterful gem and became so much more aware of how there's never true black and white. Nobody is all good or evil, and when you sink your teeth and start seeing what all is conspiring behind the scenes... Holy hell it grips you. Besides, outliving a lethal blow at the final boss with a "Ryu clenches his teeth and refuses to fall!!" is the most hyped I've ever been in any finale.

This here was the first JRPG that I properly played and the first one that I actually completed. Back then my understanding of English was much more limited so there was a good lot that I didn't understand but I nonetheless ended up loving the story and the characters. However, the most memorable part for me about the game is that thanks to my poor understanding of English the ending I got was somewhat tragic and actually made me cry. This having been long before the internet had any proper guides for games I had no idea that there were other endings so I was just sad. Of course, once Breath of Fire III came out I was all over that in the hopes it'd let you pick up from where II left - it didn't but by then I was already a dedicated fan of the series and am still very fond of this one that started it all for me.

This was my first JPRG ever as a kid. took me a long time to finally pass it. but didnt regret any bit of it. collecting all the characters for your team and building your home was dope. (SNES user)

I remember being in Algebra when my friend told me about this game. I didn't believe there was a sequel at the time, and he brought in the booklet for me. Lucky for me he sold the game to me a couple months later. Bow and Nina are my favorite characters. I bought the strategy guide and had fun with the town building and getting all the shamans. Being able to recruit Bleu was pretty sweet as well. Running into the hero at the waterfall brings back memories of enjoying the first game.

If I didn't get the bad ending by accidently screwing myself out of the top tier equipment this would've been one of the most amazing RPG games I have ever played. Still amazing though.

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
