I worked in a game store from January 2011 - August 2014. Prototype was one of my most recommended games to (target audience appropriate) customers. I’d say something like, “You can run up the side of a skyscraper- with an SUV held above your head, throw it at a helicopter, watch it explode, then fall to the ground- without taking any damage, morph your arms into blades and begin slicing enemies in two- in slow motion!” The delivery loses something in print, not being able to ‘talk with my hands’ (also imagine dramatic pauses coupled with tonal inflections and a wide-eyed extra emphasis on SLOW-MOTION), but I did have more than a few customers check the game out based upon this description. Sometimes I even had other customers join in agreement (I seriously miss those moments)! I also miss the complete lack of realism and proportional fun to be had in games from that era; Prototype was a standout even then, and it still holds up today- like an SUV thrown at a helicopter. Years later I hope whatever meager word-of-mouth influence I had back then is still out there, spreading and amplifying- not unlike the in-game Virus, and can help bring more votes to tip the scales in favor of a GOG release via Dreamlist!
"A game worthy of being Preserved." This is the game that brought me to GOG. This game was ahead of its time and is still one of the best fast action games you could ever hope to play. Gameplay: Super-Villain (You're not the bad guy, but you're definitely not the good guy) It feels like a mix of superman. spiderman, the hulk, etc. all into one overpowered mutant. You get to roam the city while doing some crazy parkour and eliminating enemies, or even taking out militarized compounds either head-on full destruction or stealth like (though stealth is not as in depth as the fast paced combat). Story: Very visual with nice voice acting. The main Story is easy enough to grasp, and complex enough to be interesting, it all depends on how much you explore and how much you care about it. If you only follow the main story you will be satisfied. If you explore more of the map and do side-missions you get more in-depth story telling. I love how almost everything you learn in this game are visual memories, the opposite of most games where you have to read flavor text in order to understand what is happening behind the scenes.
This game made my childhood awesome. Back then i was scared to play this with my cousins. But then i saw them running around with a huge blade and whips on Alex's hand, and i thought why not try this and I got completely hooked. This game must come back optimised for modern computers. Please

You know you're in good hands when the same team made the greatest Hulk game ever!!! Yes there's a lot of similarities within the game play. There's plenty of major differences to make this more of it's own thing. For starters, you are playing as this unique mutant that gains a lot of powers. I know some people gravitate comparing this to Infamous series. Despite Prototype series is multi platform. You get a story that should've been somewhat decent. The method they chosen to showcase it is why a lot of people often forget the story itself. It's not a terrible story by any means either. It's difficult to explain unless you played this yourself. You get to explore the city with plenty to do. This is more rampaging fun than playing the campaign style game. There's some good songs with some truly amazing sound effects. Imagine some Spider-Man games but you kill people in rather brutal ways. If you're doing everything you're going to be a rather broken character before you finish the game. Assuming you can do a lot of it in the first place. This game can be quite unforgiving at times. You also can drive around in vehicles including military ones. Prototype is an superhero game with some twists you won't see coming.

Negative of almost all games are the same, a hero with shining armour saving the day. I like Alex Mercer the way i like Geralt of Rivia because compared to other games main characters those two are self centered. Alex had been done wrong his life altered in ways can't be undone and he wanted payback and that is that! A good revenge story, is a itch that i can't scratch nowdays. Is it edgy ? Yes but like in a Brandon Lee's "The Crow" way. I really want to replay these games without having to bother modding.

I really enjoyed the powers and freedom to do what you want with them, in this form that was something very fresh in games at the time. Getting to the bottom of the intrigue was also done in an enjoyable manner. I played the PC version but from a physical copy, maybe because of that I did not experience major bugs?
Sure it wasn't a perfect game it was kinda the first time you could be the monster. Evolve to be the destruction the crazy scientists should have kept their hands away from. Just such a great way to let of some steam and expolde downtown,
Been playing this game since it came out. Have enjoyed every second of it. Honestly it is one of my favorite games of all time. One of the most interesting mechanics that made it so replayable was the fact that you gained the memories of alex through side quests and happenchance. I'm not going to mention the gameplay because it's something everyone enjoys.

This game has a lot of problem. From the price to a sudden spike on Steam thanks to Activision's greed, multiple bugs, including shadow issues for AMD users and the port is locked to 60FPS. Going above that will crash the game instantly! So yeah, bring this here DRM-FREE! I was only 14 when I spotted Radical Ent HQ logo and I think of myself, wow Canada has games studios too apart from Ubisoft that is.. If I had a billion dollars, I would take this IP offa Activision's hand for good. Praise Canada!
Those games also need your vote!
Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
