Silent Hill is the first installment in the Silent Hill series of psychological survival horror video games. Unlike earlier survival horror games that focused on protagonists with combat training, the main character Harry Mason is an average man. The gameplay consists of combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. The controller vibration is used to indicate Harry's heartbeat and will vibrate on low health. The player must regularly enter an inventory screen to check Harry's health, use items, and equip different weapons.

One of the most important horror games of all time, one that holds up unbelievable well to this day. It's an incredible artistic achievement, and its PS1 hardware limitations give it a unique uncanny style that helps it stand out from its excellent sequels. It is, of course, absolutely ridiculous that it has had so few ports and zero proper re-releases for modern platforms, so it's an obvious pick for a games preservation program.GregzillaGT

In order for this to be brought back, I feel like it really needs to retain all the 'features' of the PSX's rendering. Things like the warbling textures, dithering, with low resolution support to get the games original image as close as possible, need to be options (and on by default) for a new port of this game to work. The developers really did more with what they had and trying to boost only in resolution I fear would only take away from how beautifully handled the games atmosphere is maintained with the budgets they had monetarily and technically. This aspect is why I think it's never been ported from the PlayStation because it would be very difficult to replicate the way it renders. Stuff like the Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver remasters, while great, can go for a more upscale-upres ports/remasters and I don't think this game needs that, it just needs all those crazy PSX effects! There's already a bunch of games, horror and not, going for the old PSX graphics styles, that's the only way I see a modern Silent Hill port being done justice; is if it pays respect to the atmosphere of the game on the original hardware. I recognize this is a long shot as it has no PC port currently but this would be incredible to see.
The only officially available version of this game is on the PS3's digital catalog (which was originally going to be shut down in 2021). I don't know that GOG is really in the business of porting games in house, but it would go a long way in preserving a piece of gaming history.
This is my first horror game ever. It’s a masterpiece. Best horror franchise ever. I want it to be available for future generations. You won’t find anything similar to this game
A game basically locked to the PS1 should be free on more platforms. Silent Hill 1 is the pinnacle of PSX horror with it's wobbly and low-polygon combat and fuzzy gameplay allowing for a chilling story as you explore more about this town after losing your daughter. Silent Hill isn't just a good game, it's a fantastic game done by some talented and fantastic people. To get this game out of the PlayStation systems is to help this game become preserved and available for the future generations to play for years to come. Everyone should be able to experience this in it's entirety, and I'm interested in seeing what the GOG staff would offer to such a classic experience such as this game.

Ohhhh buddy, listen. Silent Hill 2 rightfully gets a lot of credit as an amazing, dark, cerebral horror, but Silent Hill 1 is where it all began. Is the voice work perfect? No. Are the visuals great? Debatable. Is the combat fun/fair? Not so much. But the story here is absolutely killer, and using the technology of the time, this game made you feel things. Mostly fear, confusion, grief, but boy did you feel 'em. It's as clunky as the other games of the time, but one thing I will add; this game will surprise you. There were a few really pretty camera transitions that made me genuinely go "ooooOOoooh, okay!", and some moments of the story that genuinely made me stop and think. This game absolutely has to be added to the PS1 classics like Resi 1/2/3 and Dino Crisis 1/2.

Possibly one of the best survival horror games and definetely THE BEST psycho-horror game ever made. It would be great to see it playable on modern PCs with modern controllers.

"Because it was released only on PS1, it should have also been released on PC, just like *Metal Gear Solid*, which got a PC port one year after its PS1 release in Europe."
Those games also need your vote!

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
