I really liked how campy this game was when I first tried it literally 10 years ago on ePSXe I loved playing it. Fast forward to last year, played it on duckstation and I appreciate it more even though the voice acting is amateur sounding I love it alot and I learned to apreciate the game for what it actually is Please gog make a native pc port of SH 1 a reality for as good emulation is I want to own an actual pc port of the game. This game doesn't have just one thing about it was makes it stand out for me in my memory, but it's always the game that comes to mind when I think of horror and the game that I can always come back to - to play for while. The atmosphere, the story, I'm always a sucker for tank controls too. This game considered one of the great classics of horror that Konami made in response to Resident Evil, but what would make it a great choice for the preservation program is its lack of preservation from Konami. You can officially play the game in two ways either to own a PS1 and own the game physically which buying retro games now isn't cheap, it's more expensive than buying a modern game now, or to own a PS3 and buy it from the PS3 play store which Sony almost took down. (I don't know why it's only on the PS3 version, Sony just doesn't care I guess)

Such an influential game and means a lot to me on a personal level as Harry Mason reminds me a lot of my dad who passed in 2023 so despite being a horror game I find a lot of comfort in it and want more people to fall in love with it as I have <3 I think it’s underrated in terms of the franchise despite being the first. It’s scary it’s emotional it’s beautiful.
Silent Hill is one the many franchises that live in my heart and mind always. Perfect atmosphere, story and replaying it for my friends and community. This series needs to be preserved!!

This is the first real horror game i've ever played back in 1998 (favorite genre), it brings so much nostalgia, i would say i'ts the start of one of the best sagas ever (until SH4 at least for me) back when creativity and ideas where well recieved in this industry.

I never really got too much into the Silent Hill games, but it grew up liking survival horror games and was too scared to play SH :') I want to be able to try it out from the beginning! I also have a friend who really loves SH and SH1 is one of the games he likes the most.

I was very late to the game so to speak, I only first played it in 2022, but I was genuinely blown away that the game I was playing was from the Playstation 1 era. It actually terrified me at the start and It's one of the best games I've ever played.

The opening few minutes of this game are burned into my memory. Before Silent Hill was a thing, the walk down the alley at the beginning was an unprecedented type of horror in games. This game influenced games and horror in more ways than we know.
This was an amazing game for the PS1, the atmosphere and mood is still anxiety inducing for something that was made 25+ years ago. I played the 2nd one first and thought because it was on the ps1 it wouldn't be able to capture the scary nature and uneasiness I got from playing on a graphicly superior system. I was very wrong. Walking down the rusted fenced and walled areas to discovery bloody remains with nothing but a flashlight to guide you, then to be greeted with a bunch of angry creatures while a siren blasts in the background and not knowing if the chunks you just stepped on are your daughters all while being surrounded and blacking out in horror made me realize it's going to be a good game.

This was one of my first PS1 games. And as much people, my entry into the survival horror games. Pure horror visiting the streets of Silent Hill with a radio. A masterpiece!
Those games also need your vote!

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
