I just wanted to start a discussion about this amazing RTS game. It came out when there was nothing really happening with the franchise and yet, and yet it was an absolute hit. Made by Westwood, it's like a missing entry in the C&C series, and IMO one of the best ones. The factions are amazing, the gameplay is great, the graphics were stunning... and the style is still beautiful. The music is super enjoyable. And of course the story, it's actually really really good and deep as opposed to the self-aware cheesy story in C&C (which is fun, but it's just a different thing). I don't think a game quite like that has been made since - most RTS games, especially scifi ones, have some level of corny "straight to VHS" element to their world building.

There is nothing to say, hopefully one day it can be added, especially with how popular Dune has become again with the new film. It has over 10 000 votes on the wishlist... but I heard the Dune rights holders don't care much for older games so who knows ... maybe, hopefully, one day?

Anyways, who played Emperor? Curious what you all think about this game.
nice idea, boring skirmishes
Navigator In a Box ftw!

Disagree about the cheesiness. The story was... good... but alot of it was also way over the top.

Dynamic campaign! That's what it was called. A long time ago I was thinking about the campaign where you conquered territory, had to defend it, and generally it was shifting. I knew there was a word for that, but I couldn't think of it. Dynamic campaign.

The music still rocks! Have many songs, such as: ''tribute to evil'', ''victory is inevitable'' downloaded in a Game_OST folder.

Radiation?! Pfftt... whatever...
I enjoyed it, they did some interesting things in the story such as the Civil War in the Harkonnen story.
I played the game a very long time ago, and recall quite little of it, besides the fact I enjoyed it. (I don't recall any single missions or story etc., just roughly how the graphics looked like etc.).

One of the games I've meant to replay at some point. Get in the line!

Pssh. Long before we can even tackle that, the bigger issue is that EA needs to be convinced to release more games here... like any at all! We haven't seen a single game from them since Mirror's Edge, Spore, and Saboteur landed here well over seven years ago.

EA seems like a company that's old enough to appreciate GOG but they have shown otherwise.

An understatement, if I ever heard one. The current holder of the Herbert estate, namely Brian Herbert, has repeatedly stated he hates all the older games (on reasons they take certain liberties with the Dune universe) and wishes they had never existed. The chances of them resurfacing during his lifetime are minimal if not non-existent.

EA don't even appreciate their own games. Several games that aren't available anymore.

Coming from him, that's absolutely hilarious.

Hilariously hypocritical, indeed. But I guess "family" can take liberties with Frank Herbert's work, and run a sacred series of SF literature into the ground, while others aren't allowed to :|.

Not that it matters, but I also wish his Dune novels never existed, so I at least know the feeling he's referring to :P.

We might be in for a treat, the movies atm seem granted for success. . .

The Creative Assembly might be a more worthy contender then some upstart. . .

DUNE - Total War

At least those peeps understand the term dynamic campaign/combat
