Hi. Some times (once every week or two), when I open GOG's homepage, everything is in Russian. Other times, things the website is in English, with prices in Euros, wich I prefer.

Can someone try to explain why it changes from one day to the next? What determines what settings are chosen?

I use a Firefox extension that deletes my cookies regularly (after a few hours unused), but the lack of cookie does not explain this somewhat unpredictable but not uncommon occurrences.

Does this happens to anyone else, or am I a "luck use" randomly selected for a multicultural experience"?

Check your current language on:

Account -> Orders & Settings -> Account and Locale

never knew about this, this could be your best way, though i thought it would be cookies/data store on your browser as that require to remember the settings u had on sites

That only takes effect after I login. I get the Russian language right after I enter the website, before I login.

I have a stable IP address. Geo IP seems to provide the correct location if I could see correctly. Unless something more complex is going on.

Also, English and USD or EUR would be a much safer default value, so that can't be it.

Are the GOG folks close friends with Putin, and know something we on Portugal are not aware of yet?

Your dedications to GOG sees no limits! Unless you live in California, Texas or Florida, you may want to wait for cooler weather. :-)
But the food is great! It makes me not want to leave the country.

The day France won the soccer match everything was French when I opened GOG homepage.
I thought it was kind of a special tribute...but hey, seems like I was wrong.

If you go to the main page and scroll down to the very bottom you will see Language and Currency options. For me at least it keeps the values (English and prices in PLN) when I log out, but I had to set it twice (once while being logged in and the second time when being logged out).


Edit: I'm expecting that while being logged out it is handled by cookies, so if you delete them every time it won't matter unfortunately.

Some progress: the HTTPS URL works as expected. It is the HTTP request that sets the language in Russian for me.

It's probably a glitch on GOG's side. By default GOG detects via IP geo-location in which country you are and shows the corresponding language and currency. However, recently the page sometimes switched to French for me. my guess is, that GOG uses dynamic load sharing and reroutes to another local server, if the default server of my region is under heavy load. In this process, the geo-location might screw up somehow. HTTPS may prevent these routings from happening, because the connection is fixed once the encryption stands.

Long story short, you're not alone and my browser is Chromium based, so it's rather not Firefox or Extension related. Seems like a case of "What did just break".
