For years now I've been wondering how easy and practical it would be to make
fully-articulated remote control robot action figures and obstacle course / platform playsets to race
and battle them in.

Taking an idea from "Rock 'em Sock 'em" and maybe parts could fly off the robots when hit in certain areas.

So what's stopping you from picking up on the last two decades of Robot Wars & Battlebots?

Or building your own Combat Robot?

The problem with building a robot isn't in building a robot. That's easy, even a child can do it. Now, programming a robot to do what you'd want it to do? That's stuff that even high end military contractors are scratching their heads about; we're still trying to figure out level ground.

While those seem far fetched, some controllers are already pretty big leaps, and while most didn't live more than a console generation, some ideas seem to be sticking, like VR controllers, for example.

Well... Elon Musk's robots and Boston Dynamics projects are quite advanced.
In all kinds of market if someone does it, it pushes the rest of the market to do it too.
We will probably see some bizarre and fast development in the next few years.

It's all fun and games and tap-dancing untill someone builds a robot child.
