Playstation Vita DRPGs Dungeon Travelers 2, Dungeon Travelers 2-2, and To Heart 2: Dungeon Travelers, are getting PC releases from the company Shiravune.

They were originally going to release on Steam, however Steam rejected their releases. Consequently, the games are now only releasing on the store "Johren". However, Johren has a rather extreme and intrusive form of DRM that makes it to where you can only install the game three times or upgrade your PC three times before your license is completely revoked. This is by design, and Johren's support encourages users to buy games again if this happens.

Obviously, this form of DRM is completely unacceptable, and consequently, the Dungeon Travelers games, by being rejected by Steam, are now only available on the Playstation Vita, a dead handheld, or via extremely intrusive DRM.
As it happens, Shiravune has stated that it has no problems with the idea of a GoG release and told us to let GoG know we want that. And so, here I am, begging GoG to get in contact with Shiravune to get the Dungeon Travelers games on a DRM free platform. They have already explained that a DRM free release is not a problem for these games, so its really on GoG at this point.

Please, please, as a massive JRPG fan, please rescue these games from DRM hell.

Very interesting, I'm not familiar with these games but it's definitely a nice opportunity for GOG if it's not actually a problem for the publisher that the games are also released DRM-free.

I suggest you create official wishlists for each game.

Why haven't they reached out to GOG themselves? Or have they, but have not heard back?

In either case, I hope they manage to communicate and bring it here. More games are always welcome. No idea what's up with the sudden increase in Steam rejections, but than can only be a good thing fro GOG, should they choose to make the most of it.


Also, I gotta ask... is there a "Dungeon Travellers 1"? Can we get that too?

That's what To Heart 2: Dungeon Travelers is.
The series is To Heart 2: Dungeon Travelers -> Dungeon Travelers 2 -> Dungeon Travelers 2-2
The Dungeon Travelers series is a spinoff of the To Heart series, a series of visual novels. I don't know much about the VNs and rarely see people talking about them. I'm not much of a VN fan, I just like JRPGs. I don't believe you need knowledge of To Heart to play these games though.

Having looked up this game, I have an idea as to why Steam may have banned it. Judging by the screenshots on Johren, the age of some characters is... questionable.

I get that but the games are not porn games, and they were physical published on the Playstation Vita, with Dungeon Travelers 2 receiving an ESRB rating of M. Surely if they're acceptable for a release on consoles, PC should be no problem.

On this topic, I get the feeling that if anyone can get the English version of Dohna Donna DRM free, the guy running Jast USA will personally thank the individual. (So, jokes aside, also adding the request for it)

I appreciate y'alls enthusiasm for Shiravune titles, but if you wouldn't mind, and I mean no offense by this, could you please keep this thread focused on Dungeon Travelers specifically? I just don't want to dilute or water down the main topic. Of course, the more games on GoG the merrier, but different games have different licensing situations and as far as I'm aware, Shiravune hasn't mentioned anything about those games being allowed to be sold DRM free the way they have with Dungeon Travelers. I could be wrong of course, but either way, I wanna keep things on topic.

Voted. Would love to see the DT series here as i missed out on the vita release of DT2.
It's not exactly rare but it's quite expensive usually so rather get it and the rest here.

Technically the censorship in the latter two Uta games isn't that dramatic as in the first game, also the latter two were censored in the west for the PS4 and Vita way before the PC one existed (and in japan they were always all ages to begin with)

As for Prelude to the Fallen, they used the PSP/PS2 all ages version to make the PS4/VIta and later PC port, so the 18+ content is bound to the original PC release which on it's own is engine wise a different game to my knowledge.

Back on topic I would love to see the DT games on GoG, especially because I only have the english version of DT2 on the Vita, but the other games never got a english version before.

Seconded. I've seen dozens of opinions on various websites now that went like "God I want this game, but I'm not buying on Johren so I'll wait for another platform". GoG release would be wonderful.

Here's to hoping Dungeon Travelers can see a release here, and encourage future releases of other Shiravune-published titles too.

These are surprisingly snappy Dungeon Crawlers with great UI & engaging gameplay loops. Looking at the screenshots it definitely has its' fan service focus, but gameplay is king in these titles for sure.
