My mum just told me about that new Pokemon Go experience, a friend of her is extremely intrigued by it.
When she said he would go for a walk to find some Pokemon and I didn't know a 'game' like that existed, I just thought 'what the hell is wrong with him?'^^

It could happen, we don't know how deeply something like this could affect a person (I don't, at least).

Pokémon GO! plays out very similar to a proper Pokémon game. The only difference is how you level up and evolve your Pokémon. Everything else is just as you would imagine; wander around, discover and catch new Pokémon, visit shops for supplies, and battle trainers at different gyms. I think it is a great way to encourage people to go outside and walk around. It also promotes travel as special events will take place in certain locations that you will only be able to participate in if you are there. Many games and apps offer similar Augmented Reality experiences, but the Pokémon style of gameplay is just so perfectly suited to it. It's worth checking out.

Yeah, I wouldn't have expected him to play it since he plays games much less frequently than me and isn't even interested in animes (me neither but I found Pokemon to be quite funny and cute, of course only if there doesn't get a corpse in your way).

I know of another augmented reality game, Spirit Camera for the Nintendo DS...I think that would be even more frightening in the said situation.

As Pokémon has been around for 20 years, many younger people don't even think of shows like Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and DragonBall Z as being Japanese. It isn't unusual to meet someone who claims not to like anime, but will then tell you they really like one of the shows I listed. It's much the same as how some older people who grew up with shows like Speed Racer, Battle of the Planets or Robotech often don't think of them as being inherently Japanese.

It recognizes different landscapes and also points of interest. Having said that, the Pokémon you will discover are also dependent on your Trainer Level, so just because you're near water doesn't guarantee a water Pokémon will appear, but it is definitely more likely. As for running into other trainers, you will have the ability to trade or battle them just like the proper games. There are already tons of people playing the game, so running into someone won't be that big of a coincidence. In a densely populated area, or at a public event, you are sure to run into a few trainers. For a more asynchronous experience, you can also defend your local Pokémon Gym by assigning a Pokémon to guard it. Attacking a defended gym allows you to battle nearby trainers without them physically being present.

I would certainly think that stumbling upon a corpse while playing Spirit Camera would definitely make for a much more disturbing situation.
