Saro, the Tainted Believer Introduction: Saro Every acolyte of the Inquisition is first and foremost a tool for waging war against the enemies of Humanity — and in this battle, the Holy Ordos are prepared to use any weapon at its disposal. Sanctioned psykers are individuals who show the ability to wield unnatural psychic powers and are deemed useful enough to undergo the arduous sanctioning process in order to bear eternal penance for the transgression of their existence through labour and service to Humanity and the God-Emperor. Their lives are usually short, and their existence is wretched, but their abilities, tempered by sanctioned rituals and an iron will, become a mighty force in the eternal struggle to defend the Imperium.

The young Adeptus Ministorum acolyte's abilities were discovered while he was still a youth, and thus, he was deprived of any hope of living a normal life or finding posthumous glory in the blessed light of the God-Emperor. And yet, Saro, with the stoicism of a sinner doomed to a fate worse than death, is determined to carry out his duty to the bitter end. As a psyker, he is an outcast, despised by all other subjects of the Imperium, but he carries this burden with his head held high and his gaze forever fixed upon the Exalted One.
Of all the various disciplines that a sanctioned psyker may display, one of the most dangerous is pyromancy. Saro is one such pyromancer and has devoted himself to mastering his abilities. When a passionate prayer escapes his lips, the roaring flames of witchcraft are unleashed to become a deliverance for sinners, purifying heretics, mutants, and all who have rejected the God-Emperor’s light. The only thing more surprising than his talent is the fact that Saro, despite his choice of weapon, is one of the oldest surviving psykers in the Bastion Serpentis, having somehow managed to avoid killing himself to this day.

Like all psykers, Saro senses its approach, and he is prepared to face these dire times as he has faced every trial of his mind and soul: with a prayer on his lips and fire in his heart."
