Oh, c'mon GOG....no RealMyst?

Because it was just released yesterday. Newly released games are not included in promos, which again is probably by agreement with their publishers. At any rate it's best to wait with discouting a new release to pick up a larger profit from the initial sales.

Real Myst and Uru were published by Cyan Games itself and not by Cyan Inc. according to their game page.
I'm a bit disappointed too that those games aren't in the promo.
Than again, it will take months to finish my back catalog, so I can wait.

They are the same company, just switched names once or twice.

I bought Riven although I own it three times already :P Too bad there's no Myst III yet, though. I know, it wasn't made by Cyan but still ..

I'm in serious doubt. I've never played any Myst games (although I always wanted to)...what should I do? Purchase the 2D Myst or RealMyst? The 3D one looks more interesting (the slide show thing looks a bit disorienting, and 3D just feels more...natural), but I really don't know what to do...help, anyone?
Oh, and what about The Manhole? Is it any good?

Maybe it is me, but it seems to be a weak promo. The two titles many would want are missing.

Personally I think the two games are actually very different concerning mood and atmosphere, so I like to play them both for different reasons.
Advantages Myst Masterpiece:
-better lighting and texture/model/polygon detail (curved surfaces, etc.), it was just not possible in real time at the time realMYST was released
-simpler and more intuitive controls, navigation is a lot quicker
-very low hardware requirements
Advantages realMYST:
-free 3D movement (makes exploration much less confusing and disorienting sometimes)
-much higher screen resolutions and even antialising possible (Masterpiece is stuck at 640*480)
-changing weather, day & night cycle & more animations in general (water etc.)
-additional age to explore

I'd say experiencing the story and the worlds is interesting enough to make playing the games worth it, even when you are using a walkthrough to get past some of the more obscure puzzles (or even all of them).
The thought and attention to detail that has gone into building these worlds and the story is remarkable and worth exploring.

Ok...I think I'll just get Riven and keep it for now. When RealMyst goes on sale, I'll grab it.
