An amazing version DRMFree for this game
Final Fantasy VII is my favourite Final Fantasy (I know... really original) and this version is the best.
It's DRM-Free (tested offline) and compatible with 7th Heaven so you can install any mod
Gog and Square Enix this time deserve 5 stars this time and the game too of course.
Note: right now only using Canary version of 7th Heaven work with gog version, that's a program necessary only if you want to mod the game.
7th Heaven devs unfortunately use some basic form of DRM.
- They check for steam dll hash.
- And they also check in their drm is if any file or folder except for some exceptions (anything conected to reunion mod and the file 00422 [F - Crackling fire, looped].ogg ) everything else that's called:
"crack", "warez", "torrent", "skidrow", "goodies"
got a ".nfo" extension or
if there is any file called
"ali213.ini", "rld.dll", "gameservices.dll"
and they will prevent the game from running with mods if any of the above is true.
Since it's an open source app you can just return always false in the IsGamePirated method in the class AppUI/Classes/GameConverter.cs or you can ignore this and be ok with that form of basic drm. I recompiled 7th Heaven to remove this drm.
I will not lower my rating since this is a review of the game, not a review of the mod tool.
