"Masterpiece" that I dont plan to buy
(spoilers)
This game is from creators of Limbo, which I liked totally, so when it came out I decided to buy it, but:
-1 No Linux binary
ok, but I can still execute it in Wine. But then I looked at which engine devs used and its Unity, which can output to Linux target. So I waited, years passed, no Linux build. Thank you devs for simply skipping my computing platform, but ok - recently I decided to watch no comment playthrough to decide if its worth the effort to be run in Wine. So I watched a 1 hour video and
-1 story made of 95% your imagination
there is simply no story in this game, in essence its Limbo+zombies+weird stuff. You appear out of no where and run into the city while evading people in masks, then episodically find a farm with dead animals. Then zombies appear which you can control, while hiding from dogs and masked, who ship the zombies in trains. But then when you move to center of city - masked ignore you totally. Ok, but then you decide to swim naked with a flesh thing and become it... and masked run from you and at same time help you escape. The devs simply threw LOTS of small details here expect YOU to make GUESSWORK. Plus
-1 Weird puzzles
in lots of parts, puzzles just feel unlinked with the story. Floating gas barrels, huge destruction machine, Seamaid which kills you, not. In Limbo those could be explained, because you are dead and what you see, is actually things you remember. But not here. But then, I decided to look for secrets and
- 1 Developers break the fourth wall
found out you can turn yourself off, which just adds more to the weirdness. And then there is this printer thing, which prints lots of combinations, that result in email, that sends you a code about devs next game.. But
-1 Removing content
then I found that they removed scenes where you can be infected with worms and office scene..
Honestly, I give 2 stars, one for superb graphics and another for audio. That is tops, which I can give to this highly linear weird game.
