Bramble: The Mountain King

Worth every bit.

Story-driven Indie Horror Puzzler. I love this game and think it deserves 5 stars, but I wouldn't be being very objective. Look, I've bought this game multiple times, on multiple platforms, at a higher price than its sales price. You've got decent graphics, a lovely tale of brother and sister, dark horror elements, light platforming, light puzzles, etc. This game will run you 4-5 hours of enjoyment. I just ran though it again before giving this review. If you are a fan of cultural fairy tales packaged in a Little Nightmares-esque package I'm sure you'll enjoy this as much as me. The music hits just right, the emotional beats are wistful, melancholic, and hopeful -- delivered on que. It has much heart to it. It's not all roses, it does have some eurojank (personally this gives it charm in my eyes). The controls aren't perfect and some deaths/failures may be because of that, but don't let that dissuade you. Also, I would not consider this a game for kids as it deals with very dreadful topics, easily young adult or older. The atmosphere has a very 'original' Grimm fairy tales feel meets adventous exuberance, striving-through-adversity excitement to overcome the darkness in us all. I was able to run this on my secondary computer which is a well dressed potato running a decade old workstation graphics card not designed for gaming. Each chapter is well paced with an ending 'boss' of sorts. It rides that perfect line between light-hearted and unease. I really wish for more of this and if you can take it for what it is, I think you too would give it a star above 4.

CARRION

Eldritch Monster Simulator

Man should not play God with nature, lest he create a monster more barbarous than himself. Have you ever wanted to consume that wretched scientist that tortured you and experimented on you? Ever wanted to see the sun, the stars, and get a bit of fresh air as you soak in the scientist's blood? Three tentacles up, this game meets my need for feeding and freedom!

INDIKA

My kinda weird...

Religion, philosophy, the devil giving hugs! Oh my! If you want a narrative driven game with a little puzzling, a little platforming, and horrifically uplifting/depressing atmosphere - look no further. The prose outweighs the jankiness of some areas which gives it some charm in my eyes. Have faith this will give you a couple of hours of thoughtprovoking fun, until it's dashed away with heavy subject matter and a conclusive, definitive end? You'll find yourself asking: Was it all 'point'-less?

Little Nightmares II

Another winner

Visually excellent, story enjoyable, a little gameplay jank, but overall awesome. I would buy the next in the series if GOG acquires it. This is a short, spoopie, fun little romp through the creepies.

The Wolf Among Us

Story Driven Excellence

Great choices. Great music. Great scenery. Excellent Dialogue and story beats. Only complaint is the ending can make things feel without closure...
