KnightShift

review for original CD version

well, i played it back it the day when my bro bought it and swore it was a great game. to me it just looked like a Warcraft 3 clone, though i only played WC3 much later, mostly in LAN shops with custom maps. cool RTS/RPG hybrid, kinda like some of the RPG campaigns/custom maps in WC3. great graphics for that time but looks dated now. "funny" jokes. funny as in some lame gamer-bro kinda jokes. esp the desc for the Amazon Mage . mechanically i thought the RPG parts were too hard. ridiculously easy to die. i heard you're suppose to grind some respawning wolves to cheese the game or something but i lost interest innit pretty fast.

Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack

the same old gimmick...

.... of cutting out the olde OST which used to be "free" with the original game, and sell it separately for 10 bucks or more. crap tactics. cash grab was a cash grab. buger off, beamdog. get a real job. "Inappropriate content. Content contains gibberish. " now GOG wants to censor negative reviews too!

Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition

what Csumbi said.

Cannon Fodder 2

Cannon Fodder but harder+painjob

first off you should read the "Untold Story" from the level designer himself, Stuart Campbell. "worldofstuart dot excellentcontent dot com/cf2/cf2.htm" there was suppose to be a proper manual/ novella to go with this game but it didn't make the cut, so the designer made some webpages to explain it all, along with some hints. at least read it for the plot/backstory. also a great source of nostalgia for britpop history, which influenced the game design. with that out of the way, i must also say the default DOSBox settings are probably wrong. it auto runs at MAX cycles which can lag the game. the game is best run at 20000 cycles or maybe 60 percent depending on your CPU. "output=ddraw" (DirectDraw) worked best for me, but Overlay might be more compatible with most GPUs. gameplay? more of the same but harder. colour scheme in some missions might be horrible because funky aliens. IMO too many missions force you to run straight to the rocket shooting enemies to take them out ASAP. some missions are too puzzle-like for my taste, and don't give you much time to thinking about because enemies start shooting rockets or hurling grenades at you. first game was revolutionary for its time, but we eventually got more complex RTS games(like Syndicate and Dune 2), and this sequel feels quite dated. still mostly enjoyable but i prefer the first game, which i still never beat.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Anniversary Edition

Was great. then patches killed it.

ok i only ever owned the Dark Crusade version but i played campaign with almost all factions. and played online with Tau and Necrons too. at first it was all cool. possibly the 2nd best RTS i ever played just behind WC3. but patch after patch it just became more and more unbalanced, as the devs nerfed all the cool units. which eventually became everything except the weakest units and the Eldar. rumour has that the devs are big Eldar fans and only ever play Eldar. made the game unfun to play online, and tedious to play in single player unless you play on easy mode... or with Eldar. TLDR: patches killed game balance because devs are dirty xenomorph lovers(just the Eldar).
