I found the demo to be both quite challenging and quite enjoyable. It was fascinating enough to keep me from walking away in the middle of a scenario, rather playing out each to its end. Some aspects of the gameplay could be better explained, eg the newly added happiness mechanic in scenario 3. The first time I played it, I missed my target by 5 colonists on the last turn because I had placed some houses too close to a factory on the very first turn. The puzzling aspect of the terraforming system can be frustrating due to the rng as the kits are not all present in each scenario, but once you realise that you're just not going to get the kit you want, you do usually have enough time to rework your strategy in order to be successful. I will definitely be looking at reviews once it has fully launched, so on the wishlist it goes. PS: The fourth scenario is just the epilogue to the prologue's story - the demo has only 3 playable scenarios, but they took me plenty of hours to complete.

It so nearly hooked me

I played the tutorial and the short intro to the open-world campaign, and especially the latter holds so much promise. Playing the game reminds me a bit of the choose your adventure books of yore, which I greatly enjoyed. There is a great opportunity for role-playing here, and a lot of work has gone into the lore/world building. I do not like the combat system, but perhaps it will change if I get more practice in it - the tutorial only has a couple of fights and I didn't particularly enjoy the mechanics thereof. But the greatest reason for deciding against purchasing the full game on release comes from my personal aversion to profanity. I don't think the game needs it, as this is already a pretty dark fantasy world, but as I said, it is a matter of personal preference. Apart from that, and with how interesting the first few quests / possible quests sound in the post-tutorial game, I would have grabbed this.

Disappointing

I like tycoon games, so I gave this a try. However, I found just trying to lay down a single ski run such a frustrating effort, that I abandoned the demo after less than 10 minutes. There seemed to be no way to undo any placements you make, nor any way of moving them (by e.g. clicking and dragging them around), so after 3 unsatisfactory attempts, I just stopped trying. Maybe a manual would help?

Worthwhile demo

I just finished the demo and it was fun. The game gave me a simplified King of Dragon Pass vibe. There are at least 4 resources to manage: Food, Culture, Construction and Authority. The tutorial is very clear and I found most everything quite intuitive. If one likes turn-based strategy games, then you should definitely at least try the demo.

Nearly as good as in the arcade

Ah, yes. It's been about 15 years since I played these in an arcade, so it was a nice surprise to see it added to the gog catalogue. I wasn't very sure that it would run on my pc, but decided to take a chance and I'm glad I did. The game runs smoothly on my Win Vista machine. It looks and sounds exactly as I remember. The only problem is a slight lag in response time when pressing the "A" button. That is easily mastered though, and I managed to complete my first round in 1 under par. As concerns how to play the game - when the game is launched there are a few options shown, one of which will show the (keyboard only) controls to be used. The q and w buttons are incorrectly identified as usable. Press the spacebar to add coins and "Enter" to start the game. The arrow buttons act as the joystick, while the z, x and c buttons are the game's "A" (action), "B"(hook) and "C"(slice) buttons. At the start of the game there is a short tutorial to demonstrate how to play. You can also choose various display and sound options, including whether to play in windowed- or full screen mode. Overall, if you'd like a fun little golf simulation on your pc, I recommend getting this one.

A really fun puzzler

A puzzle game with a number of original puzzles, including some truly fun ones (I especially enjoyed the guitaring) and probably the best end credits sequence I have ever seen. The graphics and music are good and the only problem I had was spotting one or two of the interactive spots. I fully recommend this one to puzzle lovers.
