Souls games have nothing on Darksiders 2
Played it first when I was like 15 years old. Didn't understand much of it and didn't care much for it, but I enjoyed it. Replaying it right now and... Damn, over the years have strayed far from this level of quality gaming.
This game is great. It's an awesome improvement compared to Darksiders 1, which was really good game on it's own. Really enjoying the stat management, talent trees and equipment. Overall Darksiders 2 has a little bit of everything that's enjoyable. 2008's Prince of Persia parkour, engaging puzzles and world discovery, combat system that has a little bit of classic God of War in it and a little bit of Devil May Cry. Can't believe we went from this to Souls combat. We traded fluidity, proactivity and combos for poise damage, rolling and waiting for damage windows. The writing is excellent (especially compared to lukewarm corporate slop we've been getting in recent years), the story and lore are interesting.
Great game you have to play, easy 5/5. The only improvement I can think of is non-linear story and decisions that branch out into different maps, playthroughs and endings.
