Like to shoot stuff? You will love this!

As there are mostly pointless reviews here that make this game's idea deeper than it really is, here is an actual and honest review: This game is a top down shooter with a short but action packed story where you get to shoot people with different weapons, grenades and use of enviromental elements such as exploading barrels. Controls are responsive and satisfying. No game breaking bugs. The gameplay is a run and gun experience where you have to keep killing to stay alive. There is no upgrade or RPG elements in this just plain good old shooting yourself frome level to level, which is really good when you just want to have some fun and not think to much about tactics and strategy. Goal is to kill people while progressing through the levels with the option of small side quests, while not getting yourself killed. It also features a "survival mode" where you get to survive waves of enemies with short buying rounds after each wave, similar to CoD Zombies, which I personally really enjoyed. The graphics and the atmosphere are impressive even by todays standards and they give just the right vibe for such a game. Acompanied by the soundtrack the whole package just feels right. Performance is smooth and fast so you can run it on older and less powerful systems while still maintainig good visuals. All in all a really fun experience if you like shooters and want a simple, not to complicated game to just go on a killing spree. Also it's an important milestone in shooting game history as this sparked a huge controversy back in the day about violence in video games. Many aspects of this game are way ahead of their time. You like shooters? This is basically a must-play. 100% recommended and thanks to GoG for preserving this!

Shadowgrounds

Underrated

Underrated top down shooter with a nice setting and fun gameplay. Upgrade system is easy straight forward. Only thing negative thing so far is a soft lock bug on the second level end level cut scene but it can be fixed by just skipping the cutscene so its fine. Definitely worth the money

Daikatana

Underrated FPS with a good story

Really underrated game, with a nice story. It has features that are really unique for a game this old and the pacing is perfectly ballanced. The secrets are well hidden and sometimes it takes a while to figure out what to do. Therefore it takes out the speed a bit and makes you think from time to time which I personally like. Gameplaywise it is smooth and I didn't encounter any bugs so far. Also this was made by the FPS-Godfather himself, John Romero. A must-play for true gamers and FPS fans.
