I played this game co-op with my brother for years, picked up an old Xbox 360 during covid and thought i'd try the game again after so many years. I found so many details, mechanics and amazing interactions hidden in the game which i never knew about before. My character got married and had a child, every time i visited the town i would go and spend time with my family; my wife, and our baby that had a cot in our house. I would go up to the baby and use the Thumbs Up expression, i did this every time i visited the town, which was very regualrly, because i enjoyed interacting with them and my wife would give me gifts a lot. In the game there's a ten year time-skip, when i returned to my family after, my kid was a ten year old, walking, talking not just a spud in a cot in my house. Upon inspecting the character details of my newly ten-year old daughter (which you can do for any adult character, but not babies), i see in likes and dislikes, it had a note that said 'Loves expression: Thumbs Up'. My visiting her as a baby and using the thumbs up expression, had crafted her personality for the second half of the game, the devs didn't need to include detail like that but they did. It got me so invested emotionally in my little Fable 2 family, i was more immersed in the game than ever before. Later, my family was killed by the game's villain, and after resurrecting them at the end of the game, i got a quest to save my daughter from a cave. So many details i had missed before. Somehow, in the stupidest way possible, at a dark time (covid), playing a nearly 15 year old game i used to love playing with my brother, discovering new details i had no idea about before, and immersing into the game like never before, that 'Loves expression: Thumbs Up' was the turning point that made me realise for the first time, that i wanted to be a dad in real life.
