One of the greatest turn-based combat systems of all time, with even early random battles requiring the player to consider their moves carefully. In addition, said encounters are actually paced perfectly for keeping you on level with where the bosses expect you to be without requiring you to grind. The sphere grid provides a sublime balance between letting you develop your characters freely and putting them in predefined roles (You can have your White Mage, Yuna, grab some of Rikku's Thief abilities later on, for example). Honestly, this is just talking about the gameplay (I often put gameplay first above anything else to an almost ridiculous degree). The whole package is an incredible, unforgettable experience. Oh, and there's an expansive minigame where you play Blitzball, which is basically underwater soccer, if you're the kind of person who enjoys sports games. (Admittedly this sounds more like a review than what I was going for)

My favourite Game of all time, i remember playing it on PS2, even printing like pages of guides of how to defeat boss's and were to get items for the spheregrid, my username was inspired by it Ultimate from the Ultima Weapon, Max from Maximum when i used the feature overkill. It was the first Final fantasy game i played and since then i played almost all of them, i became in love with the stories of the ff saga. I have the FFX/2 Colletion on Playstation 4. I played so many times and still couldn't beat the Super bosses or the minigames. I want this game to be on GOG because is the game that made me love the saga and if Steam just removes the game from my library i want to play it in here.

Another gem from my youth :) it has to come on gog and besides FF X is one of the best if not the best FF game. Soundtrack is bloody amazing and very emotional game. I hope this game will come to gog store it just have to.

I was 21 years old when I played this game on the playstation 2. I played all the final fantasies from the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, PS1 and then when moved on to PS2 you can tell the graphical improvement. I remember playing 24 hours straight. The story is so good and hopefully the sequel X2 comes also to GOG. Wow that was 24 years aho. I can't believe how time flies. Playing this game makes me feel young again.

first RPG i ever played. forever has a special place in my heart so preservation would be incredible, even more so if somehow it could be a preserved "PS2" version that didn't fix some stuff (OP Quick Hit hehe)

I was lucky (spoiled) to start playing RPGs as an adult in the late 90's. So I got to play FFVII, Suikoden, Kartia, Chronocross and many other exceptional ones right away. And then there was FFX. Even as an adult this story is so engaging and the characters feel so real. Tidus sounds and acts like a real young man. Normally, I shun English dubing in a Japanese game. But here, it was done so well that I didn't mind. Even the side religious elements were a welcomed integral part of the story. While i might like an RPG's story, I rarely actually care about or feel for the characters. FFX (and FFVII too) is just the opposite. Gameplay-wise I loved the combat system and being able to level your character up however you chose. When I played FFVII I was very taken by it like so many others have been. FFVIII and FFIX were fun as well and I enjoyed them. But it wasn't until FFX came along that I felt that same immersion and engagement that I had with FFVII. I purchased physical disks in the day and later on Steam. If GOG is able to add it to their preservation project, that would be a real feather in their cap, and ours as well. When later generations and younger people come along and ask, "What's the deal with all those old RPG and FF games?" We will want games like FFX to be able to show them and tell them, "Just play them and see". Final Note: Square did a fine job with the remaster. Evenso I prefer the original. If FFX were added, that is the version that should be preserved.

I remember first playing this on the PlayStation 3 and it was a fun yet intense video game. James Arnold Taylor did an excellent job voicing Tidus; particularly with the fake laugh scene.

Ive always wanted to get into final fantasy, even got the chance to play the PS2 version of X , if for far too short. Ive wanted to buy the game on PC, including IX, but theyre so horrifically broken I cannot justify spending the money. I have faith GOG could bring us a port that doesn't die the second you look at it funky, and hopefully give me a chance to finally play the rest of FFX in acceptable quality.

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
