to me it is one of the top tier FF games. A lot of people might disagree, since FFVII does have some kind of a religiously untouchable standing, and I personally came in contact with FFVII as the first of the games and yes, it is also top tier, but to be fair, FFVI is a pure and beautifully polished gem, FFVIII is kind of the matured FFVII and I personally would it prefer, then there is FFIX and boy,it was time to return to a somewhat more fantasy and less techy world, but it doesnt reach (for me) the height of the mentioned.
and then there is FF X.. (ONLY FF X, it hat a perfect ending, there si,ply is no X2, basta!).
I finished FF X in my first go through with roughly a bit more then over 200 hours of playtime. I have since finished the game in various different approaches a couple more times. I played a savestate with a guide trying to get all the specials and damn no after hours and hours i will never dreach 200 perfect lightning dodges why TWO d*mn HUNDRED times without even a break...torture at its finest).
FFX has over 11 hours of video sequences, i looked it up, and all of them are perfect. A lot of people make fun about the horrible laughing scene, but imagine standing there, with that girl you would like to take out, being on a more important mission, having lost your home, found a new family, melancholy, hope, and the destruction of the world around you. it fits the enormous emotional build up of the game like a unexpectetly fine glove.
there are two other scenes i will never forget and that forever .. reinforced my own expectations of entering another persons most intimate being. it shaped my expectations of love in a completely unrealistic way but i wouldnt have it any other.
at the end, when our main protagonists real reason of being is revealed - I cried. the second time i reached that point I cried. they were so close yet thousend of years and a special magic afar...
This game made me cry. And it still does today, years of experiences later...
