One of the best Rtses ever made. Great, very interesting campaign, like in the movies. Unique factions. Looks very nice. Units show emotions, like fear. Everyone who likes RTS games and Lord of the rings, should try it. Similar to original, but city building is diffrent. Generally it is more interesting.lowca12

One of the best Rtses ever made. Great, very interesting campaign, like in the movies. Unique factions. Looks very nice. Units show emotions, like fear. This game is my childhood. With all my friend who loves LOTR movie or game doesn't matter, we were going to cafe where you can play in the same room with your friend and spend the night in there and go back to school next day during our high school. Waiting to see which race you will get and try to see your what your friends got, if you get mordor or elves you try to hide your smile and have a poker face. Try to get ring from Gollum and become a legend and do the skills especially eye of the sauron skill to see what your enemies are. Ahh my childhood.

I have only two (very petty) downsides with this game : Gondor and Rohan being mixed into the Mens factions, and Heroes being disbanded into other factions (Legolas goes with Elves, and Gimli with Dwarves, when they were in the Rohan in 1st). It was still an insanely solid game improving aspects of the first one. Graphics didn't changed much but textures and the feeling of scale were better. I don't remember a lot of the campaigns but i remember that the Good was more focused on the Elves. Being able to build wherever you wanted was also something i also liked. It was the only LOTR rts game so close to Warcraft III. And those chilly vibes from Angmar... What i mostly DO remember is making custom heroes for hours, and watching them fight each other in skirmishes. Good times. I hope GOG will be able to bring this gem back.

This game was a major part of my teenage years. I still have fond memories of the campaign. It would mean the world to me to be able to play it again. Please consider it.

My memory with this game was when my older brother got it for his birthday when I want to say I was 11 years old. This game introduced me to characters I never heard of and made me want to read more of Tolkien. While I was an offline type of gamer (dial up Internet in Alaska) I easily put hundreds if not thousands of hours on skirmish, the campaign, and the War of the Ring. The only other game I saw do a mode similar was Dawn of War Dark Crusade and was a fantastic mode to play. Other Tolkien fans I've met also grew up on this game and holds many memories but this is a game that is slowly being lost due to rights issues and needs to be preserved for the future

Fond memories of playing this in college and then multiple times after and the extent to which I have went to make this work on modern hardware with modded copies and...less than ideal methods is insane and worth every second.

I still remember the day my mother bought this game for me from GameStop. It is one of the few vivid memories I have from my childhood. I was and still am a mega LOTR nerd, I would watch as much of the trilogy as I could every day on the way to school on my portable DVD player. I played hundreds of hours of the first BFME game on the family computer, you could imagine my excitement in the back seat of the car flipping through the manual of Battle For Middle-Earth 2 on the way home. These games were and still are beloved to me, demonstrated by the fact that I still have both games in their bulky box physical copies. The Battle For Middle-Earth II deserves to be preserved and immortalized in history🧝🏻‍♀️❤️‍🔥

Amazingly fun game with great heroes that really made a difference in the battlefield. Also the base building has great flavor. Amassing huge armies to take down the walls of your opponents, or the opposite was fun and refreshing

I loved the first one like others have said. It was great. This one continued the greatness on the first one and they added more things that were great. Also, I REALLY HOPE if you get this you get the expansion. I never got to play that as it was hard to come by even when it first came out.

it's my favorite game since childhood. me and boys still playing sometimes. It never gets old. Lord of The Rings universe does not have lots of game and as a Lord of The Rings fan i can honestly tell this is one of the best game for LOTR fans also

With a hero characters similar to the Warcraft series you control both the armies and all the unique heroes. The game follows the movies very closely and even got scenes from the films appear in game. Not only does the game contain a giant campaign where you play through the journey of the ring as the good side, the game also features an evil campaign where as the players play as the evil forces of Middle Earth. With multiple diffrent races from all over Middle Earth, a giant spell tree to customize your game and a unique basebuilding layout the game was great for its time.
