Story:
The players control the heroes or villians from the famous Lord of The Rings movies. With a hero characters similar to the Warcraft series you control both the armies and all the unique heroes. The game follows the movies very closely and even got scenes from the films appear in game. Not only does the game contain a giant campaign where you play through the journey of the ring as the good side, the game also features an evil campaign where as the players play as the evil forces of Middle Earth. With multiple diffrent races from all over Middle Earth, a giant spell tree to customize your game and a unique basebuilding layout the game was great for its time.

Quando este jogo foi lançado, eu joguei na casa do meu primo, ele me emprestou o jogo, e eu me lembro de ter jogado HORAS dele, me lembro da minha irmã entrando no meu quarto e dizendo que o jogo era lindo, e eu só tenho boas memórias desse jogo, por favor, tragam esse jogo de volta a vida com suporte a monitores 21:9 e legendas em português BR.

I don't necessarily have any special memories, but I just don't want people to have to resort to piracy to play old games. Gog has indirectly been a major deterrent for piracy simply because they provide games that would have been lost to time at a reasonable price. As Gabe Newell once spoke, "Piracy is (mostly) not a pricing problem, it's a service problem." If Gog can continue to provide this quality service, then people won't need to resort to doing something illegal to obtain games ever again!

One of my favorite RTS games and one that I still have the old strategy guide book for amongst my books. I still remember being to name units as you progressed through the campaigns and the anguish I felt in losing so many of them after messing up in the final battle at the black gate. An absolute classic that deserves to be preserved alongside its sequel (and it's expansion)

I must have borrowed this game from my local library a dozen times when I was younger. It was such a blast to play. I loved reliving the battles in an RTS fashion with the lines from the movies I loved being used. Getting my armies into position and being able to play both the good and bad guys story was so much fun. I really wish there was an actual way to still purchase these games because it's worth paying for. The day I see this on the GOG store, I will buy it in a heartbeat!

I nearly lost my job because of this game. It's 2004 and the world is still in the grip of LotR fever. I've just started my first real job and Im doing okay but still on probation to make sure I don't try and steal a desk or something when this game comes out. I buy it on a Friday and play it all weekend. Sunday night os rather Monday morning at 3am I turn it off as I have to be up at 7am to get ready for work. Next night, same thing, again the next night. I'm missing phone calls falling asleep at my desk. My manager calls me in and wants to know what is going on because if I don't smarten up then they might have to let me go. I make up an excuse about a sick family member. I come home and uninstall the game and give the disk to a friend who loses it or sells it or something before I get a chance to play it again and every time I looked for it it isn't available. I need this game back in my library!

This is the game that got me into Lord of the rings and I'll always love it for it. The cutescenes from the movie made me want to watch the movies. It was also always fun and the campaing was fun. I remember strugeling with helmsdeep. Made me feel like the movie and book!

Pretty close as my alltime favorite RTS with AOM, what I loved the most was the universe of the LOTR that is really well done and so we can relive the movies and play our specials heroes, especially in the campaing mode. The thrill of hearing the Uruk's Horn while defending Helms Deeps or the Darkness coming while fighting in Minas Thirith with the Nazgul screams and so many other details make this game unforgeatable. The music and the voice of the heroes that we can remember from the movies,etc. Another unique aspect is that this game is simple in his eco management as you have specific places to build and limited extensions so that you can focus even more on controlling your heroes or watching armies fighthing. The fact that you can play both evil and good is also amazing. Having Rohirhim charging with Theoden rally to death on endless waves of Orcs/Uruks or anything for that matter is just the best feeling. Sometimes, I just love to play Gandalf and solokill the Balrog or use his final power at lvl 10 in the enemy base which kills mostly all units around him in a magical blue wave of power. Overall a great game, simple yet beautifull and immersive with differents build options for each race while being perfectly balanced at the same time.

Spent countless hours playing the AI skirmish mode of this game when I was younger. Will forever have a place in my heart and it would be amazing to have a convenient way to play it again.

It's one of my favourite RTS games - especially with German audio, because then it is like am inside the movie world. I really love it and would like to be able to play it on my actual winn11 PC. Also part two and add-on rise of the wich king would be great (also with German audio).
