Nirth: So Veteran is a difficulty can you choose from the beginning while Elite and Ultimate acts like challenges sort of like Nightmare and Hell in Diablo?
Pretty much.

Veteran is like "Normal+", you will face bigger enemy groups and on top of that enemy Hero units will more frequently spawn in pairs. You get better loot and a better challenge on your way to Elite, which yes, is essentially Nightmare. I do not know if the overall XP gain is slightly higher compared to Normal due to larger enemy count, but if it is, you only get 2-5ish levels higher by the end of the game.

Doubt it, in my normal I was level 42 when I faced final boss whereas in my veteran I still haven't gotten to Act 3 and am level 39. (Just finished my final somer quest)

Grargar: Through the LAN option, I guess. There's no indication that the game supports crossplay through the Galaxy multiplayer.
Edit: Though thinking about Dying Light's notice, there's also no indication that it doesn't.
Ah I'll try tomorrow and see if its possible, although I'd need someone to try connecting by using GOG version. I'll make a thread for finding people interested in multiplayer in subforum tomorrow.

The description makes it look very interesting except for the fact that it's not turned based. It does look great for action RPG fan though.

Aah okay, then I stand corrected. I had heard of people beating the game with characters way above level 42 (closer to 50) on Normal so I thought there was some XP tweaking on Veteran but I suppose not. I've only ever played new characters on Veteran and am comfortable with that difficulty level

That's odd -- I'm pretty sure the GOG store page had XP listed when I first opened it earlier, but I reloaded it several minutes ago (to see if there were any reviews yet :P ) and now it's as you say, no XP support. No big loss to me (I'm on 8.1), but I suppose it sucks for the stubborn XP stalwarts. =P
