Hacking and slashing 'till the break of dawn.

Grim Dawn, the ridiculously addictive action/RPG that transcends distinctions between quality and quantity, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for multiplayer and achievements, and a 10% launch discount.

Since the ancient times, the coming of dawn has been the arch-nemesis of dedicated gamers the world over. This is all about to change as the coming of Grim Dawn will soon become associated with endless gaming sessions for many years to come. Or until your powerhouse Hardcore character meets their permanent death.

All the features you crave in a modern ARPG are here. You can tailor your hero to suit your play style by mixing and matching the six available classes in awesome dual-class combinations, with dozens of skills and modifiers sprinkled on top. Then, make sure you have enough room in your inventory to store the abundance of clickable loot found in this vast, apocalyptic fantasy land. Take them with you in world-shaping quests that will make you face tough choices and decide the fate of entire villages as you question your alliances and face the consequences of your actions. Hundreds of uniquely skilled enemies (and your homework) will attempt to stand in the way of your heroic deeds, but that will only make the visceral, spectacularly depicted bloodbath feel all the more satisfying.

Surrender yourself to the gothic allure of hacking and slashing and welcome the Grim Dawn, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% launch discount will last until March 25, 4:59 PM GMT.

In the press :

"Blow for blow, this is one of the best ARPGs in years." - IGN
"The spiritual successor to Diablo 2 that fans have been pining about for years." - MMORPG
"Grim Dawn's the action-RPG I've enjoyed the most in quite some time." - Rock Paper Shotgun
Nice catch, GOG! This is one good grab for the sparkling gift bag! :D

Found it already. I ninja'ed edit my post :p (sorry)
Doh!

Dying Light took my gog budget for the next couple months so this goes on the wishlist.

Another game I'm glad I held off on buying other places though. :)
Changed my Steam key with GOG key :)

darkangelz: Nice release.
Good news it's here, would have been better to have a backer key for weekend play. But i waited this long, i can wait abit more till everything is sorted for backers.
Same here
Excellent, nearly 1,000 votes completed with this. :) (This one, 87 votes, needs to be completed or merged though: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/grim_dawn_drm_free_on_gog )
First "Dying Light", now "Grim Dawn".

Why isn't GOG releasing games with titles such as "Mellow Afternoon Sunlight" or "Peaceful Moonshine Shadows"?

Garorog: Why on steam and the official website the minimun system req are Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7 /

Windows 8 / Windows 10 and on GOG Windows Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8 / Windows 10?

i'm running windows xp so i can't play the gog release?
I don't know if any of the hotfixes have specifically addressed that, but at least at launch (on Steam) it ran TERRIBLY on XP, and people were having lots more problems than on newer OSes. They've fixed several crash bugs and other problems since then, but I haven't seen any patch notes specifically mentioning XP. I guess I haven't seen quite as many people complaining about it specifically not working for them on XP either though...

Or "Stardew Valley"? ;) (That title sounds calming to me, at least)

Yes. I thought about that one too, but it doesn't have light (or the implication of light) in it? They should rename it "Starglow Valley".

IronArcturus: This game looks pretty cool! Is it similar to Nox or Diablo?
Closer to Diablo 2, actually, even though arguably at first glance this feels like a spiritual successor to TQ, which, by the way, I really dislike.

Typing a review now as I'm finishing up this post.
A recent patch added support for XInput controllers and the Steam Controller, right? Anyone tried it with the Xbox 360 controller? Does it play well?

drealmer7: I'm not typically an aRPG fan, but if it has a good story, good characters, and good combat, I become interested (I hate diablo for these reasons, it has none of this, imo.) I'm interested in hearing the depths of these elements from those who have played, as well as a comparison to the Van Helsing trilogy.
Story is okay I guess. You have two main enemy factions to contend with (there are a total of four - Cthonians, Aetherials, Cronley's Gang and Undead) and a bunch of good guys who have different faction rewards. I've clocked in 73 hours on Steam and haven't even gone past Act 3 Normal (there are 4 Acts).

There are also minor choices and consequences which affect your faction rep and NPCs. Pretty cool feature.

Combat is damned good. You'll spend hours fine-tuning a build that can make stuff explode from exploding stuff.

I only played Van Helsing up till level 8 or so, so I can't really give you a detailed comparison in that regard.

Well, there's always Hyper Light Drifter, though maybe the "hyper" part of it kind of disqualifies it automatically. :P

Sounds pretty cool! Does it have a windowed mode?
