it's hard to articulate on how this game influenced my passion for the games industry, and how it pushed my understanding back then and even now of what game can be.
The "God Game" Genre I feel has not quite as well been tapped into since Black & White, and it's sorely missed. I love how you get to decide what kind of God you want to be, and the game doesn't block your progress for it. But more importantly that your actions leave impressions within the world, via your creature.
The creature blew my mind, and still does now. A wee thing which you train and influence on what exertion of power you want your creed to be within the realm. But it is also learning as it's going, so it will make mistakes and develop random behaviors that can bring you equal measures of joy and moments where you question your creatures very existence - "Why the hell did you just poop in the grain supply?..."
This game deserves to be accessible once more and removed out of the IP ownership hell it's currently locked in.
Love this game, what it did, and how it pushed the boundaries of what a game can be.
P.S. I recall there being a multiplayer option to play this game, but never had the chance to do it. Would be cool to give it a go with friends!
