My heart skipped when I saw this listed here. I miss this game so very much. I know that it may not have aged well, but dang it! I love this game to death. I would actually cry if I ever saw this game listed for a modern platform. I still own a copy of this classic. I can't listen to the piano theme without tears welling up. This game means that much to me. It is the first video game I have ever beaten. It will always hold a place in my heart. Also, why is there screenshots of the second game on here?

This game is what inspired me to get the PlayStation, the PS one (the PS1 "mini"). This game was phenomenal for its time. It deserves a remake treatment, but I would settle for a remaster or at least the ability to play it on current hardware without needing to pull out the old PS one. The music, gameplay, story, everything about it is great - though I'm sure some would argue the fixed camera angles haven't aged well, but that's the only critique I'd have.

I actually got this game from a friend who said it was garbage. I popped in my PS1 and fired it up . The game started off like any other. As soon as a combat scene came up I knew it was a gem. The hybrid move system and turn based RPG combat is nice. The story is amazing as well. The stages are well detailed, Resident Evil style(as were a lot of games then). Very replayable and deserving of a remaster if not remake. This is the second PS1 game I completed after Metal Gear Solid. I would love to relive the memories! EDIT: Forgot about the scientific aspect, the content was fascinating due to current events then in 1998 regarding Spontaneous Combustion.

My dad had a copy of this for the original ps1! The unique combat, insane science and fantastic weapon and armor upgrade systems have made this one of my favorite games of all time! I loved every minute of it and I will vouch for this game until the end of time

I prefer PE2, maybe because I couldn't play legally this one as it was never released in Europe and I had to way a lot, after have played the second game about 12 times in a row ahah It's monumental. A fantastic take on the survival horror genre, we simply MUST save it after the company making it decided to sabotage the whole thing by making the 3rd

I was a kid when my dad bought me this game, I had no idea what to expect but one thing I knew it was from SquareSoft at the time, the same company that made FFIX one of my favourite RPG's of all time. This game had a lot from the intro cutscene before starting the game to the first cutscene of a small rat in the beginning of the game, story was great, combat felt good for a turn based rpg on a modern setting with a few twits and one of the most challenging end game zones at the time. 10/10 would play this game again!

My favorite game of all time. As a child I couldn’t beat the second to last boss but would make new files to keep playing as much as I could. It wasn’t till I was older and bought it on the PS Vita, that I was finally able to beat the game and enjoy it even more. An amazing game that I still play on my Vita till this day and recommend to people looking for something to play(if they have the means to play it). I would love to see it get a remake, with PE 2 and hopefully 3rd birthday right after it

Unique combat and customisation, running up the 100th floor was such an amazing experience that makes me sad I can only experience the first time once. Amazing story, wish they'd do a FF7 style remake

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
