The original Silent Hill 2 is a cornerstone of horror video games, and one of my favorite works of art. All games deserve preservation, but one this significant in the history of games as an art form can't be allowed to disappear. The remake is fantastic, but it's a totally new take and should not be considered a replacement for the original in any way. Silent Hill 2, in its original form, is as valid an artwork now as it was when it released, and should be readily available to anyone that wants to experience it.GregzillaGT

Theres nothing else even holds a candle to the original silent hill 2. The first time I finished this game, i was left speechless with my controller in hand. The characters, the weird awkward voice acting performances, the atmosphere, and the sound design. Holy crap this game just did what nothing else could. The game was I own a copy on PS2 but it hasn't aged too well, releasing the PC version would do wonders for the series and preserving this truly incredible title.
This is game is my favorite game of all time.. My second favorite game of all time is... Silent Hill 2 Remake ironically. The PC version has an audio issue when using all core which required to be played with single core affinity. This issue was present since it's release on PC. However, a guy called Gemini fixed it after all those years and is present in a mod called Enhanced Edition. I hope if GOG get the right to add this game in the catalogue.. that Enhanced Edition features will be considered being added to the game as official features.

A lot of reason for this to be available is for the sake of preservation. Sure the Remake exist, but for veterans this matters! It matters because it became the core of the Silent Hill PC Gaming community that rallied up to put a bunch of patch to make this game playable. Because back in the day, it sure hell to play without it. So my wish for this game to come out is that the GOG team would recruit the Enhanced Edition groups to make this game playable and easy to install.

I’ll say it again. This series has been my favorite series of all time it’s truly the epitome of what a survival horror game is. We just got the resident evil series back up on GOG now we need the other original horror series. Silent hill has stories worth telling and worth experiencing. The remake recently just brought many fans to this series they need a better way to play all of the originals.
While the remake surprised many, in my mind this original remains unsurpassed. Everything about the original game just came together in this really particular way that I think makes it unforgettable. Additionally, a fan remastering effort actually turns the normally borked PC version into one of my favorite remasters - if a re-release happened I'd really like to see that set of people worked with to finally allow people an easy way to play this out of the box.

One of the most important horror games of all time in my opinion. I first played it last year and it helped me through a lot of grief and pain I was dealing with. Great story with very complex characters that I think everyone deserves to play. The remake is great but the original is as well <3

Along with a relisting of "Spec Ops: The Line", this might be the game I most want to see on GOG. It is arguably the most important horror game, and one of the most meaningful narrative-driven games, of all time, and deserves to be experienced by anyone with an interest in the medium. This is all the more important now, when the remake threatens to supplant the original in public consciousness if it is not preserved in a readily accessible form. I can only hope that the foundation for this has already been laid with the listing of "Silent Hill 4".
Silent Hill 2 was one of the games that are more than its gameplay, it's something special, that videogames can be more than just games. A lot of people has played the remake, which is good, and also want to experience the original. So, having access to that game, will open the door for more people to explore what the original has to offer. Also, thank so much for making games available!! Silent Hill 2 has a special place in my heart, because it helped me through a difficult part of my life.

This is my favorite horror game of all time, and 2nd favorite overall. I was 18 when Silent Hill 2 came out, and it was life-changing in terms of experienced fiction. I didn't know at the time games could accomplish this level of narrative and emotional complexity. The remake was really good, but this original masterpiece deserves to be preserved.
Those games also need your vote!

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

The player must regularly enter an inventory screen to check Harry's health, use items, and equip different weapons.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
