I don't think there's a better LOTR movie licensed game than The Battle for Middle-earth. It perfectly captures the grandeur of the epic battles from LOTR. It was clearly so lovingly crafted by people who loved and understood Tolkien's work and Jackson's vision, from the small touches on animations of units and buildings to amazing score. I remember spending ungodly amount of hours playing skirmishes on stunningly created maps, that evoked the same feelings as when I was watching LOTR trilogy. The DVD copies are still one of my most precious(ssss) possessions, but I would definitely prefer a standalone installer that wouldn't require a DVD reader to run the game. It would be wonderful if more people could experience this absolute masterpiece and its sequel.Czembro

I would definitely buy this game on GoG. BFME2 is one of my favorite games, though I never got a chance to play the first BFME and I can't find it anywhere now.
One of my favourite real-time strategy games (and the sequel too). You can play as the "good guys" (who try to protect the One Ring from Sauron) or the forces of Mordor. It was a fun, high-energy game regardless of which side you pick. You can command your heroes through the Mines of Moria, sneak through Shelob's Lair, defend Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith, and many other familiar and not so familiar sights of Middle-Earth. Your heroes, units and buildings can be 'leveled up' (a touch from RPG games) to give them more health and extra powers. Both units and buildings can also receive bonuses (e.g. archers can get flaming arrows). And if you play on the side of Mordor, you can play as Gollum and use the One Ring! How cool is that? To sum up, this is an awesome RTS, full of action and planning, and very immersive too. I highly recommend it -- it's high time it received another airing!
I don't want to sound selfish but this game has to be prioritized by all others we have to have the original copy of this game before they try to make a remaster or a remake and basically do cash grabs we have to make so that everybody knows about this voting system in GOG guys please try to share this voting poll

This game is a pride for me. This game is nostalgia. There is nothing like this game. This game is a big gainer of EA market share. This game should be played by young people now. This game should be on sale in the market This game is a delicious movie-like multiplayer adventure. I hope it will be on sale again.
I loaded it onto my computer with 4 CDs in April 2005. This legendary game, which I have finished many times and still play online, has unfortunately been forgotten except for a small number of fans. But there are still many people waiting for BFME 3 and will play it when it comes out.

Parmis les meilleurs RTS, celui-ci en fait partie pour moi. Comme command and conquert, j'ai passé des heures dessus notamment sur la maps du gouffre de helm ou je prennait plaisir a me refaire l'attaque comme dans le film

This ist the only ever game adaptation of a film, worth your time. Great game. Simple but deep and very entertaining. The effect of a battalion rohirim crashing into the Orks I have in the ears until today.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

Dune blended adventure with economic and military strategy, and is considered by many the most immersive Dune computer game. Loosely following the story of the novel, the game casts the player as Paul Atreides, with the ultimate goal of driving the Harkonnen from Planet Dune, while managing spice extraction, military, and later, ecology through the native Fremen tribes. As the player progresses, his troops are equipped with weapons from "crysknives" to atomics, tap into Paul's latent psychic powers, and get acquainted with such characters from the book as Chani and Liet-Kynes.
