Not only was this one of the best RTS games around but it was the first one that I started editing config files for to remove the unit cap. Me and a friend took 30 minutes to build the biggest army we could I was Gondor and my friend was Isengard. By the time we actually battled we was running at about 5 fps and we each had an army size worthy of fighting at Pelennor fields. All the heroes and units we could muster stood facing each other across the map and after an intense battle only Gandalf was left standing, fighting 10 Mumakil. I only won because when he killed one final Mumakil he reached level 10 and I used word of power to finish off the other 9. We went from hundreds of units each to Gandalf standing alone atop a hill victorious. I will always remember that battle as it truly was epic and worthy of revisiting on a modern machine that could give us more than 5 fps. 😅
One of my alltime-favorite RTS. The game did a great job capuring the atmosphere of LOTR. Playing through missions like the battles at Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith or commanding your heroes through the mines of Moria was just awesome. For me, Battle of Middle-Earth is one of the most memorable and also most enjoyable RTS I ever played. I'd really love to see this absolute classic to be available at GOG.

One of the best RTS games ever made. It should come back again. I spent my childhood with it. The game I had the most fun playing with friends. A very good strategy game where you don't have to deal with resource management and immediately puts you in battle. Also the best among the Lord of the Rings games.

One of the best Rtses ever made. Great, very interesting campaign, like in the movies. Unique factions. Looks very nice. Units show emotions, like fear. Everyone who likes RTS games and Lord of the rings, should try it.

this RTS game with its campaign with shots from the movie and an alternate evil campaign is one of the most fun and impressive RTS games, especially for fans of LOTR. Having to defend Helm's Deep and Gondor long enough for reinforcements, taking down Isengard with the treeants were some of the best missions in an RTS I've played. I know that bring it to GOG would be a massive effort due to the rights disputes between EA and the current holders of the LOTR IP, but all LOTR games from around this era were amazing games that deserve to be preserved.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

As the player progresses, his troops are equipped with weapons from "crysknives" to atomics, tap into Paul's latent psychic powers, and get acquainted with such characters from the book as Chani and Liet-Kynes.
